// Overview

The Core Reinforcement Product

Epoxy-Coated TMT Bars

Epoxy-Coated TMT is the same deformed reinforcing bar used in every reinforced concrete structure, produced to full IS 1786 mechanical specification, with a continuous Fusion-Bonded Epoxy film applied over the entire bar surface — ribs, deformations, and cut ends included.

Because the coating is applied before the bar reaches site, every length behaves identically: same yield strength, same elongation, same bond performance with concrete, but with a chloride and moisture barrier that plain TMT does not have. It is specified wherever the design life of a structure depends on the reinforcement outlasting the concrete cover around it.

  • Zero change to mechanical properties — full IS 1786 structural compliance retained
  • Coating covers ribs and deformations, not just the flat bar surface
  • Supplied cut-to-length or in standard 12 m bundles, tagged by heat number
  • Compatible with standard tie wire, couplers, and mechanical splicing systems
  • Available in Fe 415, Fe 500, Fe 500D, and Fe 550 grades

// Manufacturing & Quality

Built and Tested to IS 13620

Every batch of coated TMT passes through the same five-stage FBE line and quality gate before dispatch.

01
Shot-Blast Prep
Bars are grit-blasted to a controlled surface profile so the epoxy mechanically keys into the steel, not just a clean surface.
02
Induction Preheat
Bars are heated to 220–260°C — the window in which FBE powder melts and flows evenly on contact.
03
Holiday Detection
Every coated length is scanned for pinholes with a high-voltage holiday detector before it leaves the line.
04
Cathodic Disbondment & Bend Test
Batch samples are tested per IS 13620 for coating adhesion and flexibility before dispatch certificates are issued.

// FAQ

Common Questions

Diameter range
8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 28 and 32 mm, in Fe 415, Fe 500, Fe 500D and Fe 550 grades.
Does coating weaken the bar?
No — full IS 1786 mechanical compliance is retained; the coating only adds a corrosion barrier.
Coating standard
IS 13620, 175–300 micron FBE film, holiday-tested and cathodic disbondment tested per batch.
Supply form
12 m straight lengths or cut-to-length, tagged by heat number, compatible with standard couplers.
